Our client is a leading MNC chipmaker in the computing and communications industries.
Job Description:
Software Engineers conduct or participate in multidisciplinary research and collaborate with design, layout and/or hardware engineers in the design, development, and utilization of productivity enhancement layout tools and design rule checkers,  electronic data processing systems software. Determines computer user needs'' advises hardware designers on machine characteristics that affect software systems such as storage capacity, processing speed, and input/output requirements'' designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. Responds to customer/client requests or events as they occur. Develops solutions to problems utilizing formal education,  judgement and formal software process.
The MeeGo distribution team is responsible for the development, integration, optimization and releasing of MeeGo OS. The team also develops various tools to facilitate MeeGo developers and enhance MeeGo distribution infrastructure.
You should possess a Master or a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or other related technical degrees. Additional qualifications include:
• At least three years of Linux* or Unix* software development experience with proven records
• Excellent C and/or C++ and/or Perl and/or Python* and/or Shell* programming skills (any two)
• Excellent debugging skills in Linux* or Unix*. Able to troubleshoot issues in a complicated system.
• Verbal and written English communication skills
• Experience in Linux* OS distribution work would be an added advantage
• Experience in system level integration would be a plus.
• Familiar with Linux packaging (RPM/DEB), Linux compiling, build system would be an added advantage.
• Having proven records of contributing to the open source community would be an added advantage
